A man is lucky to be alive having spent 2 days in a restaurant grease vent - reasons why we work in 2-man survey teams and use techniques which limit the need for confined spaces entry.

According to the BBC, a California man had to be freed after spending 2x days stuck in a rooftop grease vent at a vacant Chinese. Whilst these are not necessarily the type of spaces GEOTEC investigate, they are similar in size and risk rating as manhole chambers.

We do not lift manhole covers with single survey teams, even with hydraulic lifting equipment and we work with trusted subcontractors if Confined Space entry is an absolute necessity.

Being trained in Confined Spaces Entry assists our management team in being able to assess the risk and assist our clients in the best approach. The safety of our surveyors is of utmost importance.

Meanwhile, the Californian would not have lasted a third day trapped due to exhaustion and de-hydration.
