GEOTEC Surveys have recently carried out a number of surveys following the appearance of a sinkhole, with the aim of mapping the drainage and comparing the results with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to ascertain the presence of a water leak or any further areas were the happening of a sinkhole could then be predicted.

Examples of GPR & Utility Mapping Surveys following ground voiding

From the distracted moped rider in China

The Wednesbury driveway disappearance

& the railway station Bus swallowing

Most sinkholes appear following a water leak or heavy rain where water has washed away the soil and subsurface beneath a layer of tarmac, concrete or paving, which then suddenly falls in.
