CDM (2007) 17/12/2007

As you will be aware the CDM Regulations have recently been updated with an underlying aim - to reduce the unacceptable number of fatalities and injuries in the construction industry.

It is worth emphasising that every Client should take reasonable steps to ensure that the arrangements made for managing a project by persons with a duty under the CDM Regulations (2007) are suitable to ensure that the construction work to be carried out so far as is reasonably practicable without risk to the health and safety of any person. Every Client should ensure that designers and contractors are promptly provided with pre-construction information which consists of all the information in the client's possession or which is reasonably obtainable including:

  • any information about or affecting a site or the construction work
  • any information concerning the proposed use of a structure as a workplace
  • the minimum amount of time before the construction phase which will be allowed to the contractor by the client for planning and preparation for construction work
