Having previously completed an extensive underground mapping survey and successfully located a vast amount of buried services within a key location on site at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich in January 2006, GEOTEC Surveys were requested to return to the site for further investigation works.
Mr. David Harris MBE, from the Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College had raised concerns about a second area in the vicinity of The Music Hall and the lack of definitive local knowledge with regards to the locations and depths of certain buried utilities.
The main items of worry for this particular section were ascertained during a meeting on site between GEOTEC Surveys and the Foundation; the scope of the additional works were agreed and the second survey was carried out at the end of March.
Particular attention was paid to a damaged & leaking old water pipe that was of limited size, varying types of construction and with no real knowledge about its depth or route between the main buildings.
After the data collected on site was utilised to produce the final survey results in AutoCAD format, the survey drawings were returned to Mr. David Harris MBE of The Foundation for The Old Royal Naval College. The necessary remedial works could now be carried out with a far better understanding of the buried hazards on site.
On return of the GEOTEC Surveys quality questionnaire, the response to and understanding of the clients concerns through to the on-site efforts and detailed results provided were deemed to be of excellent standards by Mr. David Harris MBE and GEOTEC Surveys look forward to providing further assistance in the future at this prestigious location.
